building a relationship with the new baby can be difficult at first. it’s like a friendship, it takes time to build, but this bond lasts a lifetime.
i created 3 tips dads can use to build a relationship with the new baby. do things you enjoy and include your baby. safety first, of course.
first tip for relationship building with your baby
read your magazine, newspaper, book aloud while carrying your newborn baby and use enthusiasm in your voice.
second tip for bonding with your newborn
after a diaper change, while they are still undressed, pick them up and hold them close to your bare chest. the baby will be able to hear your heartbeat and begin to recognize your scent.
final relationship tip for getting to know your child
as the baby gets a little older, they will enjoy sitting on your lap while pretending to drive your car.
remember: time spent together is never wasted.
father’s day is this week and i am missing my dad and now i am thinking of all the new dads i know.
i wrote a poem using the letters in the word “dad”.
DAD.
i see all you are doing for us.
you are greatly appreciated.
thanks for being a great dad.
