it contains protein to keep muscles strong.

and oats are rich in calcium, potassium, phosphorous, selenium, and b vitamins.

one jar of overnight oatmeal ready to go

recipe shared from my postpartum mom/dear friend, shannon. i tweaked it a little to work with the ingredients in the fridge. this is a small serving or snack size and can easily be doubled. the snack size fit the matching jars i was using today for a new mama.

ingredients for the oatmeal are in the photo below

ingredients for making overnight oats for on the go breakfast or easy quick snack.

the wonderful recipe for overnight oats!

1/4 cup uncooked oats

1/4 cup milk (i use 2% milk)

1/4 cup yogurt ( i use what i have on hand)

1 teaspoon- 1tablespoon chia (adjust amount to your taste)

1 tablespoon honey ( i don’t use honey if yogurt is sweetened)

fruit (any fruit, fresh, frozen, or canned, works. i used cherry pie filling because i wanted my husband to try it!)

the fruit can be added when ready to serve or layered in the jar.

directions

i stir the oats, milk, and chia together as one layer. add the yogurt and top with fruit when ready to eat. for this photo, i used cherry pie filling because it was so colorful and i had a can in the pantry. use what you have. the recipe is very adaptable. place in fridge for several hours. i eat it cold, but it can easily be warmed.

to enjoy overnight oats cooked in the crockpot and ready in the morning, here is my favorite way to eat hot oatmeal with fresh apples.
